Bartholomew Jones is an emcee, educator, and creative hailing from the historic city of Memphis, TN, a city historic both for its art and its struggles. Memphis is known for creating modern blues, but it is also known for the being home to the fateful death of modern prophet Martin Luther King III. In this fractured history, Bartholomew Jones crafts an artistry that speaks to both aspects of it’s canvas. His music echoes the city's brokenness. His lyrics prophesy a hope of beauty yet unseen. “I believe our city can be, and is being used by God, as a dwelling place of invasive freedom and creativity.” says Jones. His music reflects the influences of early blues, progressive jazz, classic Hip Hop, and contemporary electronica, allowing for a heavy emphasis on live instrumentation and performance. His lyrical tone reflects the passion of an emcee and the heart of a poet. A creative at heart, Bartholomew channels his craft as an emcee not only through the microphone, but also through spoken word, public speaking, and teaching.
